It has been an exciting year for the Cal Poly Accounting Club (CPAC) and the Cal Poly Accounting Department! With increasing student involvement and new ideas coming to fruition there is a bright future. CPAC currently has 350 members and counting!
Spring Quarter moves fast and I would like to share with you a few accomplishments and upcoming events. It is my goal to continue to increase involvement between the faculty, staff, students, professionals, and firms to expand and improve CPAC in the year ahead.
This has already started with the advent of Accounting Committees of Excellence (ACE). The goal of ACE is to increase student involvement in leadership positions while also providing more tailored professional development and social events for students. Our Director of Professional Development will be leading this effort along with a motivated team of students.
At Open House, CPAC had fun welcoming new and prospective students and parents. The CPAC Director of Publicity and the entire Open House Committee did a fantastic job preparing fun games and prizes, answering questions and representing CPAC and the Accounting Area.
Over Spring Break, CPAC sponsored our first ever tour of accounting firms in San Francisco. We had a fun day visiting BDO, BPM, Frank Rimerman, and Moss Adams. Underclassman were exposed to the profession, service lines and an incredible group of professionals.
We plan to continue firm tours in conjunction with our CPAC Your Bags corporate tours. In the past year, we have visited Google, LinkedIn, and Chevron. There are more exciting visits planned including trips this Spring to AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, Uber, and Airbnb.
Events coming up this quarter include Spring Banquet and Day in the Park on May 14, along with an Intern Panel and Summer Leadership Conference Panel. Our VP of Professional Events and our Director of Activities and their committees have been doing a fantastic job preparing. This year Spring Banquet will be held at the Avila Beach Golf Resort.
